I'm so glad this place is back open for lunch again during the work week. Everything I've had on the menu is great - including those tenderloin biscuits the bucatini pasta (super fresh!). Their pimento cheese burger is a enormous and one of the best burgers in Nashville. They have an extensive bourbon selection if you come to imbibe! This place is a downtown staple and popular with locals and tourists alike with a casual yet upscale vibe.

When I think souther food, I think meat n three or soul food in a greasy spoon hole in the wall. This place is on the higher end of southern food but deserves recognition nonetheless. The steak biscuit appetizers rival any biscuits in town. Pimento cheeseburger is right up there with any other burger in town. Oysters and steaks are delicious too. Steaks are cooked on a wood fire grill and with the nudie suit cut you get the pick the meat and size.

Lived here 10 years ago and am back for a quick weekend conference. I only had a chance for one meal outside of the conference and I chose the Shrimp and Grits from the Southern! It's listed in the brunch menu vs lunch menu so I was a little worried when I didn't see it on the menu but my wonderful server asked the kitchen and they made it for me. SO GOOD and just as I remembered. Thank you Southern kitchen and staff team!

Traveled on business to Nashville and this was one of our stops for dinner! It was excellent! Staff was very friendly and nice atmosphere...we made a reservation as well. I will be back!

Blue cheese buttermilk biscuit steak sliders. Yup that a thing and it's one of the great appetizers you can start your meal with at the Southern. The brussel sprouts are also a favorite. Great ambiance that manages to be both upscale and casual all at once, this dining hot spot down in the thick of Nashville is not to be missed. Try having them add Nashville hot chicken to a Cesar salad - It's not on the menu but you can ask for it and it is amazing!

Must get the southern oysters!! I was very hesitant to try oysters with corn however these were AMAZING. The flavors really do work. We also got the burger and it was good- pretty spicy with the jalapenos bacon but the juiciness of the burger was delicious. We walked here for lunch and didn't have a problem getting a table. Highly recommend coming for lunch!

We had a perfect last night in Nashville at The Southern Steak & Oyster. I had the special of Halibut and it was amazing. Our bartender was RENO and he was absolutely perfect. He was kind and patient with us as and needed help deciding what to order. We will be back to see RENO asap

Update- I was so pumped to bring my mom here because of the last experience. I wish it would have been better. We had the worst service, she never checked in until it was time to check out. We had to flag another wait staff to get water and another bar drink. When I asked for honey mustard she looked at me like I grew a third head (they don't have honey mustard). The food is still the star of the show. Make a reservation and enjoy.

Great interior and decor. Service is quick and efficient. The server covered several specials and I'm a shrimp and grits fan. When he said their version of this dish was fish (halibut) and sweet potatoe grits, I was very interested. When he said it was best with the halibut blackened, I was sold!!! The whole entree was delicious! Excellent all around and especially the cook on the fish. Not too much, not too little. Just right
